A Day Dining In Ballantyne

A Day Dining In Ballantyne

Ballantyne is one of the gems of Charlotte. While many people head into Ballantyne to enjoy its numerous shopping options, the restaurants of this district are another draw. From Indian cuisine to good old southwestern grill food, you will find something for any taste here. If you are going to spend the day dining in Ballantyne, here are three places that, in my opinion, are definitely worth trying.

Breakfast at the Terrace Café

From waffles to omelets, the food at the Terrace CafĂ© is always made from scratch. It is by far the best breakfast option in Ballantyne. In fact, several local magazines have awarded the restaurant the title of “Best Breakfast Place” for its scrumptious breakfast offerings. Consider options like Red Velvet Waffles or S’mores French Toast, which are local favorites.

Terrace CafĂ© boasts the largest breakfast menu in town, and they serve their breakfast menu until 2:30, so you can grab an omelet if you are running a little late. You’ll find plenty of indulgent options as well as healthy choices from YMCA-nutritionist approved recipes, and all are full of flavor. The restaurant is quite popular, so you may wish to make a reservation, which you can do online.

Get Your International Food Fix at Akropolis Kafe for Lunch

After breakfast, head to the Akropolis Kafe for authentic Greek and Persian food. This restaurant is a Charlotte icon, having been in the area since 1978. The lunch menu includes a wide range of gyros, sandwiches and, for the less adventurous, burgers with fries. Greek favorites like hummus and falafel are also available, and you will want to taste the authentic stuffed grape leaves and baklava before you leave. If you are looking for something a little lighter, the Greek salads are a great fit.

Finish the Day at Vine American Kitchen

Vine American Kitchen may sound simple, but this restaurant offers fine dining at its best. Vine creates tantalizing dishes in a fine dining environment but at accessible prices. The food is distinctively American and distinctively fresh, using seasonal ingredients whenever possible. Many items, like handmade flatbreads, are made to order, so you know that you are getting food that was cooked specifically for you. Again, because of the popularity of this location, make sure you get a reservation.

With so many good restaurants, food trucks, and diners to try in the Queen City, it's almost impossible not to write about it!

  1. Great suggestions! I’m so glad to see that Vine is doing well since that location seemed to be a little cursed (much like where Stone Mountain Grill is). Looking forward to the new Viva Chicken opening out here, too.

  2. When and where is the Viva Chicken opening in Ballantyne?

    • Across the street from Torringdon Markets off Johnston road.

    • And unfortunately just a few doors down from my gym!
