Midwood Smokehouse Opening New Ballantyne Location in April

Plaza Midwood Barbeque

The popular Plaza Midwood restaurant, and my personal favorite Charlotte barbecue joint, is slated to open their second location in March. Midwood Smokehouse is targeting an April opening at 12410 Johnson Road in Toringdon, the former Sticky Fingers location. Renovations are underway to add an outdoor patio and remodel the bar area to accommodate more people.

The new location’s menu will feature many of the same staples including barbecue plates, sandwiches and tacos, but the larger location will also help to expand their catering and take-out capacity. Despite their expansion, they vow to stay true to their traditions. All barbecue will continue to be prepared on hardwood hickory logs—no natural gas or electricity.

For those unfamiliar with Midwood Smokehouse, I suggest you help yourself to a Carolina Pork plate with hushpuppies and collard greens at your earliest convenience. Ballantynians rejoice! Midwood Smokehouse in your neighborhood certainly calls for celebration.

Stay tuned to Restaurant Traffic for more news on the grand opening!

  1. Best BBQ in Charlotte.

  3. Went to new location in Ballantyne. Awful food…. had the chicken bacon sandwich…chicken was extremely dry…fries were basic and boring….my friend had their pulled pork dinner and said it was ok, nothing extraordinary. Service was decent. Food is not worth a second trip.

  4. My friend and family went to the Ballantyne location last night for dinner. Well just say eating there cause her to end up in the hospital with Food Poisoning, and she is pregnant, baby is okay, mommy is doing much better today , we want be going there to eat.

  5. Just wondering when the bar section will open and are owners involved in customer service?
