Story brought to you by Toby Partidge of Pear Tree and Company Interior Design Group.
Tucked into the corner of W. 5th Street and N. Cedar Street is Cedar Street Tavern, a staple of the 4th Ward neighborhood, supported by loyal if not completely obsessed patrons.
The tavern offers inside and outside seating, a slew of TVs, an oversized projection screen, indoor fireplace and cozy booths all crammed into a tiny V-shaped space.?? Spatially it???s centralized around a huge sculptural tree that is bordered by a zigzag bar.
Key components of the d??cor are the fiber optic star ceiling and tribal wall paintings which add to the quirky ambiance.
The crew of Cedar Street Tavern is welcoming and amazingly adept at handling the myriad of guests who frequent the bar.?? Be prepared to be lovingly attended to by the staff and don???t be surprised when they sweet talk you into staying and having a couple more beers.
The food is surprisingly good and you can???t go wrong with the wings or burgers.?? Favorites include the Buffalo wings, which are always meaty and crisp, or the really spectacular Teriyaki Grilled wings which have the perfect balance of flavor and char.?? Try the Cedar Street burger stacked with mushrooms, caramelized onions, bacon, provolone cheese and Dijon cream to wow your taste buds.?? Their beer selection is typical for Charlotte and should please most diners.
The Cedar Street crowd is truly diverse and includes business suits from the Bank, local residents who wear anything from pajamas to jeans, future chefs in their Johnson & Wales uniforms and team jersey adorned sports fans.?? You can give your swanky duds a break when visiting the tavern unless Cedar is a stop prior to another fancier establishment.
Cedar Street Tavern is a favorite of the 4th Ward and is definitely worth a visit to see what all the fuss is about.?? Stop in for some wings or the super creamy crab dip and you???ll be amazed you have been missing out on this funky little tavern.
