LaPaz the popular Charlotte Mexican restaurant is about to come back to life at the Metropolitan in Midtown. We announced that Chipotle is also building a store in the lot across the street. LaPaz has been around Charlotte for over 31 years with their last location in Southend across from Sullivan's. A dispute with their Landlord forced them out several months ago.
LaPaz is one of the Charlotte originals and we are glad they are going to live on. Mexican food is the hot food concept around the nation with female friendly Taqueria's opening up in all the major cities. Charlotte is about to see several and we will let you know who they are when we find out where they are going.
The homemade guacamole is always popular.
LaPaz is hoping to be open to the public in August. A recent trip by their site showed not a whole lot of progress so stay tuned to RT for an opening date.
La Paz is very good but with Chipotle going in across the street they might have a rough time.
I don’t like the parking at the Met. It is tough to find a parking spot unless you go up to the 4th floor and you have to run the gauntlet to get there with all the Trader Joe’s activity.
I’d appreciate a credit for the picture of the guacamole at La Paz. You took it off my Examiner.com page, and it is copyrighted.
La Paz is going to have a tough time if some of the new hip Mexican restaurants land here in the Queen city.
