Rippington's (home page here) has been Waxhaw's main draw for dining the past 9 years. They have seen other restaurants come and go as they march on. What is their secret?Jimmy Rogers, an accomplished restaurateur once told me the secret to any successful restaurant is simple...........it's on the plate. So there you have it, the simple key to success is you have to serve good food that people enjoy. That is Rippington's key to longevity in a business not known for it. They serve good food, they serve large portions and they serve it for a fair price.
Rippington's is owned by Martin Sexton who has been in the restaurant business his entire life. Martin previously owned the popular New Market Grill at the Arboretum. The chef is Michael Tschirhart (my brother) so I am a little biased but trust me you will love this place.
Rippington's has wine and beer and is studying adding a full service bar in the near future.
The dining room is bright and airy. They also serve a Sunday brunch that is quite popular.
I love Rippington’s for Sunday brunch. Downtown Waxhaw is quaint.
My husband and I love Rippington’s. We go there all the time. The portions are large for the price. It is a great bargain.
Is Rippington’s going to start serving alcohol or beer anytime soon?
The owner Martin Sexton is looking into it and is even trying to add a bar. We will keep you posted.
Rippington’s is a little tired especially with the new restaurant right down the street. The food is good though.
I think Rippington’s is going for the old timey feel and does not want to be like the Big Daddy’s wannabe down the road (Maxwell’s) I for one judge restaurants on the food and in Waxhaw it is no contest, Rippington’s wins by a mile.
I agree with Brooklyn, the food at Rippington’s is way superior to Maxwell’s or Marino’s (which closed) Does anyone hear what is going into the Marino’s restaurant space?
Maxwell’s is nicer than Rippington’s since it is newer but I still think the food is better at Rippington’s. I heard another Italian place is going into the closed Marino’s? Why would they open up an Italian restaurant in the same place where one just closed? Does not make sense.
I also heard that it was going to be a high end Italian place. I hope they are kidding, did they not learn anything from Marino’s? Waxhaw is not a high end market it will never support it.
