Raleigh based Carolina Ale House opens today in Uptown Charlotte across from the Epicenter. This is restauranteur Lou Moshako's 16th Ale House location. They are also in negotiations to open an Ale House in Gastonia. The Charlotte location has over 250 seats on two floors. The mezzanine has a full bar and a pool table.
In a sign of the times they will have 72 beers on draft. Restaurant Traffic has noted before about the influx of concepts having large draft beer selections. 72 different taps will put them in the top 10 in Charlotte for most draft beer selections.
RT was invited to the opening party and it is a nice looking restaurant. We tried several items on the menu and everything came out fast and our server Mary was great. She was friendly and knowledgeable and you usually don't get that with a new store.
The chicken quesadillas were our favorite appetizer.
Mary even talked us into trying a couple of beers, we were powerless and could not have said no to her.
We will get in for a more formal review but give Carolina Ale House a try and report back to us on your experience. Hey 72 beers on tap and a bunch of TV's will always have a place in our heart. Uptown finally has a true sportsbar.
