Charlotte’s First Growler Shop to Open this Summer in South End

Attention craft beer enthusiasts! Charlotte’s first exclusive growler filling shop, The Beer Growler, is slated to open this summer. Since legislation was passed last June allowing bars, bottle shops, restaurants, and hotels to fill growlers, Good Bottle Co. and Bulldog Beer and Wine were the first to start filling followed by a slew of others including Salud Beer Shop, Growler’s Pourhouse, Duckworth’s, and even some Harris Teeters.

The Beer Growler CharlotteNow, The Beer Growler will not only become the Queen City’s first growler filling station, but also the first location outside Georgia for this Atlanta-based franchise. The Beer Growler currently has seven other locations in the Peach State, with six of them owned by franchisees. The latest location will be opening in South End at the Dilworth Station shopping center at 1427 South Blvd.

It’s no secret that the craft beer scene in Charlotte is evolving. Just last month Charlotte’s NoDa Brewing Company took home the gold medal at the World Beer Cup for their American-style IPA, Hop, Drop N’ Roll. Meanwhile new breweries such as Unknown Brewing Co. are thriving. Co-owners Jessica King, Kristen Knox, and Brandee Winkler, all Charlotte natives and craft beer enthusiasts, are excited about entering the local market and capitalizing on this growing industry.

The Beer Growler

The Beer Growler will initially have 45 different beers on tap that will rotate depending on season and availability and will include local Charlotte breweries, as well as regional and national beers that aren’t locally available. At least two taps will be dedicated to non-alcohol beverages including ciders and cream sodas.

  1. Hey! Don’t forget Bulldog on Park Rd (http://www.bulldogbeerandwine.com/). I’ve seen them fill growlers and it a cool place to hang!

Roger, haven’t made it over there yet but I’ve heard Bulldog is a great place! There are too many to list here — Charlotte’s really embraced craft beer culture over the last years and it’s certainly a great thing.
