Mexican Restaurants

Austin based Chuy's is looking to open their first Carolina store here in the Queen City.  Chuy's has been around since 1982 but only recently started an aggressive expansion schedule.  They opened in Atlanta a few weeks ago.  Chuy's is a Mexican themed joint like no other you have ever seen.  The interior look is best described as tacky, by design.

That is a lot of colors going on.  You don't stay in business for 30 years by serving bad food though.  Chuy's has about 30 locations and is zeroing in on the Southend area of Charlotte.  The good news is there is a lot of interest in Charlotte by several different restaurant groups looking to expand here.  Hopefully that is a barometer of the changing economic climate.
