Dogwood Southern (white linen) Table
If you are looking for a place for a more upscale lunch, you might consider the Dogwood Southern Table. Â With white tablecloths, a farm to table menu and a crackling fireplace this is not just an every-day lunch spot. Â This Chef-owned restaurant is another gem from Jon and Kim Dressler of Dressler’s located both in Midtown and in Birkdale Village. The restaurant itself is warm and welcoming with a rustic southern charm, open kitchen and plenty of long tables for large groups. I have been able to visit for lunch twice already, but they also serve a fresh locally sources brunch and dinner. Â I’m looking forward to checking out the after-work scene with their long, well-stocked bar serving an assortment of custom cocktails, local beers and value-driven wines. Personally, I loved the fact that there were vegetarian soup options. Â With the cold weather set in, it’s hard to find a good soup that isn’t made with chicken stock. Â Here I have been able to try both the White Bean Soup and the Butternut Squash Soup, both luxurious creamy and delicious although I tend to be more partial to the squash variety. I tried the Plancha-Seared Flounder on my first visit and was impressed by the presentation and flavors of the farro and arugula mixed with the fish. Â My second visit I added the same flounder option to the Local Lettuce Salad for the same upcharge as adding chicken (which is rarely the case at restaurants). However, I was more impressed by my lunch-mate’s House Chopped Chicken Salad pictured below. All in all, a great restaurant for a business lunch or special occasion given the price-point. Â The brunch and dinner menu looks more in line with other local restaurants and I look forward to trying both as well as experiencing the increased energy of the dinner atmosphere.
