Dogwood Southern (white linen) Table

If you are looking for a place for a more upscale lunch, you might consider the Dogwood Southern Table.  With white tablecloths, a farm to table menu and a crackling fireplace this is not just an every-day lunch spot.  This Chef-owned restaurant is another gem from Jon and Kim Dressler of Dressler’s located both in Midtown and in Birkdale Village. The restaurant itself is warm and welcoming with a rustic southern charm, open kitchen and plenty of long tables for large groups. Dogwood Southern Table's outdoor patio Fantastic interior decor! In case you need some motivation... I have been able to visit for lunch twice already, but they also serve a fresh locally sources brunch and dinner.  I’m looking forward to checking out the after-work scene with their long, well-stocked bar serving an assortment of custom cocktails, local beers and value-driven wines. Personally, I loved the fact that there were vegetarian soup options.  With the cold weather set in, it’s hard to find a good soup that isn’t made with chicken stock.  Here I have been able to try both the White Bean Soup and the Butternut Squash Soup, both luxurious creamy and delicious although I tend to be more partial to the squash variety. What a gorgeous presentation! I tried the Plancha-Seared Flounder on my first visit and was impressed by the presentation and flavors of the farro and arugula mixed with the fish.  My second visit I added the same flounder option to the Local Lettuce Salad for the same upcharge as adding chicken (which is rarely the case at restaurants). However, I was more impressed by my lunch-mate’s House Chopped Chicken Salad pictured below. The Chopped Chicken Salad took top marks, hands-down!! All in all, a great restaurant for a business lunch or special occasion given the price-point.  The brunch and dinner menu looks more in line with other local restaurants and I look forward to trying both as well as experiencing the increased energy of the dinner atmosphere.

Avidly exploring the hidden gems of Charlotte's long-established and newly-emerging culinary scenes.

  1. Jon Dressler always comes up with a solid restaurant. The Dressler’s in the Met is one of my favorite go-to places for a great meal and the views of downtown Charlotte are stunning. I will certainly try out Dogwood.

  3. Welcome Nicole. I see you grew up in Cleveland, are you a Buckeye fan?

    • Thanks all! Perry, I am an ECU Grad but try to follow the Buckeyes as well as the other home teams as best as I can! I figure that I can claim it based on family having gone there!

  4. Any ideas on who the other restaurants will be going into Sharon Square along with Dogwood?

  5. We are expecting great things from you Nicole, do not disappoint.

  6. Howdy Nicole.
