Duck Donuts Coming Soon to Kenilworth Commons

Duck Donuts, a fresh and made-to-order doughnut concept, will finally be opening a location in Charlotte this upcoming month, making it the sixth North Carolina location.

The doughnut franchise originated in Duck, NC after founders Russ DiGilio and Robin Griffith failed to locate a fresh doughnut shop on a trip to the Outer Banks. Today, Duck Donuts is located in 15 different cities on the east coast with 5 more opening soon.

The new Charlotte franchise, owned by Scott Plassman, is set to open mid-September, according to their Facebook page. The store, located at Kenilworth Commons in Dilworth, sits directly next to Dolce Ristorante and is located at 1720 Kenilworth Ave.

The concept centers around the idea of freshly made doughnuts in which customers can watch their food being made in front of them. All doughnuts are made with wheat and corn flour, soybean oil, nonfat dry milk, egg yolks and beta carotene. The made-to-order concept also allows you to create your doughnut of choice from a combination of eight different coatings and five types of toppings.

You pick –

Coatings: Bare, Cinnamon Sugar, Powdered Sugar, Glazed, Vanilla Icing, Chocolate Icing, Lemon Icing, Peanut Butter Icing, Maple Icing and Strawberry Icing
Toppings: Shredded Coconut, Chocolate Sprinkles, Rainbow Sprinkles, Chopped Peanuts, and Bacon

Not feeling your sweet tooth as much? You can also find muffins, breakfast sandwiches and healthier options such as yogurt and fresh fruit available on the menu.
