El Camino put their sign up in front of Andrew Blair's this past weekend. Andy Henson who also owns the popular Angry Ale's right next door is the driving force behind the Mexican themed eatery. Local Chef Todd Townsend came up with most of the menu items. El Camino promises a fun, eclectic atmosphere that is also going to be family friendly. No date on when they will be opening yet.
Still think it is a bit curious that they are basically doing the same thing as the restaurant directly across the street. I guess America was built on competition and the strongest will survive. Of course Maverick has a giant head start on them. Andrew Blair’s was good but they seemed more interested in the bar business than the food business. If that is the case with El Camino they will not make it either.
It will all depend on who has the best food and service and that one will stay open and the other will go away.
Why is the Andrew Blair’s sign still up on the building?
Its on the way down
stay tuned! The new sign will be up and WOW!
Forget the sign, why are they opening a Mexican restaurant across the street from another Mexican restaurant? Makes absolutely no sense. It can’t be good for either restaurant, there is only so much of a pie you can slice up. It will probably put them both out of business.
Andy has done a lot of research to open this new Tex Mex restaurant…he didn’t just throw together a menue and throw up a sign…he went to Texas…investigated many of its local ideas..sat down with various people and formed a wonderful concept…visit the El Camino before you post questioning comments..be responsible for your words! The food has been pain stakingly tried out on various groups of potential guests…thus far everyone has had an enjoyable experience…. Charlotte is a melting pot of wonderful cultures…let’s give this concept a real chance!
Kelly, why did he not research there was another Mexican restaurant right across the road?
He knew that it was very apparent…his has a quality different from the other. Why don’t you try out before you set a judgement? There are all sorts of places close. No matter what he opens there will be another close by…does that mean he shouldn’t try?! Why is it such an issue to you?
If your product is good and the environment is attractive … there are enough people that enjoy going to different places for everyone to benifit…just because there are several tex mex places around doesn’t mean they will go out of business…look at Applebees…Fridays…two very strong very alike very money making and ejoyable to visit either!
Andy is a spoiled rich kid that knows nothing about restaurants. He will be the one to go out of business.
Yeah the food is sooo good at his other restaurant Angry Ale’s. It is awful so this place has to be better.
The food was actually pretty good at Andrew Blair’s. Why did he shut that down?
Andy is and always be a frat Boi . He just wants a place where he can party all he time. The food will fail as long as the hensons don’t let the hired professionals do their jobs. Todd may have written the recipes but is he working in the kitchen? Another 2 million in the garbage for Andy’s family is what I foresee.
