A First Peek into the New Passion8

Charlotte upscale dining

There are few feelings better than witnessing those pursuing something they are genuinely passionate about. I have had the opportunity to witness this passion between Passion8 owners, Luca and Jessica Annunziata. From the moment I stepped inside of the construction zone of Passion8’s soon-to-be Elizabeth Avenue home 2 months ago, I knew it would be special.

The space is impressive to say the least—my haphazard iPhone photos simply don’t do it any justice. Spanning nearly 5000 square feet of prime Elizabeth Avenue real estate, Passion8 has the dining capacity for 140 and boasts three dining areas, a 10-seat chef’s table, a 40-person mezzanine for private events, and a 20-seat bar. The feel? Upscale and romantic with a sort of rustic touch that makes you nostalgic for your grandmother’s authentic Italian cuisine. In one word: passion. From the light fixtures, to antique wine bottle casings, everything about this place reflects the passion between wife-husband and business duo, Luca and Jessica.

Throughout the night, we were treated to a selection of bar bites that were as impressive in taste as they were in presentation. I wish I could recall the details and ingredients of every creation, but I’ll let you deduce what you wish from the photos. What I do remember? Servers were both jovial and knowledgeable, enthusiastically recalling the ingredients and source (all local) of each bite.

A brief but moving announcement to the attendees and heartfelt exchange between Luca and Jessica revealed that Passion8 truly is a culmination of the passion, hard work and love between the pair. If you’ve ever been to the former location or have never heard of the restaurant prior to this post, I strongly encourage you visiting. I promise it is unlike any place in Charlotte you have been.

Passion8 opened October 25 and will be open for dinner service at 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Passion8 plans to add lunch offerings in the next six weeks.

  1. I am very happy to have them closer to me! That Elizabeth corridor has some great opportunities. Smart early adapters in there.

  2. Although I loved their Fort Mill site, I’m so excited about all the space this location has. They’re farther away from me now, but I’m much more inclined to go there knowing I won’t be sitting right on top of my neighbors. 🙂 Just made reservations for a couple of weeks from now and can’t wait!
