Happy Independence Day, America. We hope all our readers and friends who make Restaurant Traffic possible enjoy a day of kicking back and taking a deep whiff of freedom. If liberty carried a scent it would smell pretty awesome like a whole hog smoking over hickory coals in Grandpa’s backyard.

Should you allot yourself a moment, take some time to reread the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution over the long weekend. It would probably behoove our elected officials to do the same from time to time. The rights and principles emphasized in those cornerstones of American idealism are as important today as during the time of our Founders when they told King George and all his lackeys to take that crown and shove it.

Never forget that as Americans, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
