JJ's Red Hots has started construction on the former Boardwalk Billy's site on East Blvd. JJ's concept is an upscale hot dog experience. They will serve the highest quality hot dogs over an open flame. These Buffalo natives hope to play off Bad Daddy's located right down the road and keep it simple and serve a lot of hot dogs. Restaurant Traffic saw the demolition photos and they are gutting the restaurant to give it a completely different feel from the previous occupants. Stay tuned for the opening date.
They better serve some pretty good hot dogs. That site is tough.
We love Bad Daddy’s. I will be interested to see what these guys do to the space. It has had a lot of different restaurants in there over the past 4-5 years. You almost need a scorecard to keep up with them.
I will be interested to see what they are going to do special to make people go in to buy hot dogs.
Tough to compete with Bad Daddy’s.
Give them a chance. I am sure they will do something unique and special for hot dogs.
The location is good. What are they going to do with the rooftop patio?
What happened to the pictures of the hot dogs?
Yeah why did they take the hot dog pictures off the website?
We were asked by the JJ’s PR team to take them down because they weren’t an accurate portrayal of their food.
it’s a great location that’s about to get a fresh look, great vibe and a gourmet take on a classic american food.
what’s the latest update as far as opening timeframe and hours of operation? Is this concept going to be more like Moe’s where people come in, grab some quick, casual food and go or another sports bar concept where they want customers to linger around, drink, watch sports, operate late night hours, etc?
Went by there the other day and it looked like they had a way to go before opening. If anyone knows any details please post them on the comments section.
We will be opening this summer. Please visit our facebook page (JJ’s Red Hots) for up to the minute info. Thanks for your interest!
Waiting with baited breath to sink my teeth into your delicious dogs!
Place is been open 3 months and hasn’t lived up to the branding hype they created. Note the terrible reviews about their food on YELP. The exterior signage (huge neon lights) is loud and obnoxious and an eye sore to the area in my view. They also seem to be struggling with self identity issues. They are a simple hot dog place – serve the lunch crowd and early dinner then close.
