Metropolitan Officially Adds 2 New Eateries

Hickory Tavern La Paz

The dining options at the Metropolitan have recently become greater with the addition of The Hickory Tavern and La Paz.  Both restaurants opened to the public around the Holidays which as we noted earlier surely made the new employees happy but as my mother would say, "they are lucky to have jobs."  Oh well, mom is not much for the working man.  Restaurant Traffic was in both locations before they opened and given tours.
The Hickory Tavern was towards the back with a great view of Uptown Charlotte.  The one thing we did not like was the placement of the TV's if you were sitting at the bar.  You could only see 2 clearly and when you go to a sports bar you want to be able to watch every game especially if it is the Fantasy Football playoffs and you have several players going at the same time.  My wife just rolled her eyes.

On to La Paz, we did not like that the bar was cordoned off from the dining room.  We are amateur restaurant design experts and understand years ago owners would do this to separate the smoking element from the dining room.  That issue was solved a couple of years ago with the much needed no smoking ordinance.  Usually the energy in a restaurant is located in the bar area and you don't want to take that away from your dining room.  It is more fun to eat in the bar than drink in the dining room.  Oh well enough of our opinions.

I am glad that La Paz is back in Charlotte. It is a good local place.

Never really thought much of Hickory Tavern. Always thought the food was average and the service is always lousy.
