Moe’s Original BBQ Heading to Matthews

Moe’s Original BBQ Heading to Matthews

Our friend and colleague Patty Dowdy with National Restaurant Properties has just placed Moe’s Original BBQ in the former Pure Taqueria location in Matthews.  We loved Pure but thought Matthews was an odd location.  Moe’s on the other hand looks to be a perfect fit.  They are based out of Colorado and this will be the 2nd North Carolina location, the other is in Ashville.  Moe’s is known for their BBQ, local beers, scratch made food and good times.  Moe’s is shooting for a late spring-early summer grand opening.  Stay tuned to Restaurant Traffic for more information.

  1. Why do pictures of BBQ always make my mouth water?

  2. Comin’ in hot!

  3. That building seemed a little too modern for a BBQ restaurant, will be interesting how they change it over to a Moe’s BBQ.

  4. I have been to the other one and it had some good food. Glad it is coming closer to Charlotte.

  5. BBQ for “out of towners”… If you know NC BBQ, this ain’t it. They cover up any hint of smoke flavor with a sweet, watery sauce. Banana pudding without a banana. Really? Sorry… I wanted to like this place, but it fell way short.

  6. Went to Moe’s in Matthews, NC for the first time today for lunch. I have to say the food was to die for. I had the pulled pork sandwich with roasted Brussels Sprouts and Blackeyed Pea salad. All three of these were excellent. The pulled pork was plentiful and nicely complemented with the sauce (instead of drowning in it like some place I’ve been). The Brussels Sprouts were beautifully crispy brown at the edges and the Blackeyed Pea salad was a refreshing contrast. My friend had the beef brisket which she let me sample; tender and flavorful with a good smokey bite. I don’t know what the griping about prices is in other reviews. This is an upscale area of Matthews and the food is excellent. Prices are commensurate with the excellent food and area. If you want to be served mounds of food at cheap prices, there are plenty of places out towards Monroe (where I live) and other outlying areas. I will be going back soon to sample more of the menu.
