Those badass punk rock restaurateurs over at Pinky’s Westside on 1600 Morehead Street are bringing their DIY culinary ruckus to Huntersville this fall. They hope to open at the 9818 Gilead Road (Suite B-101) location sometime this October.

On an ideal week, I get to Pinky’s at least once, sometimes twice, if I’m jonesing bad for the buffalo shrimp tacos. My addiction seemed to get worse once I started branching out on the menu and tried the fresh falafal, or short rib tacos, or Wednesday’s special veggie burrito. Everything comes served up with a smile and a little Black Sabbath or The Delfonics. The extra attention to ¬†prompt service and unique, flavorful meals at affordable prices are solid fundamentals for restaurateurs looking to flourish and grow. Plus there is a gigantic photo of Boris Karloff as Frankenstein’s Monster. Need I say more.

Here is about all I know from my lazy castings for updates: many of the big checks have been written, the menu is the same and there is no surrender. It will be interesting to see the Pinky’s vision unfold outside the packed quarters of the former Triple G auto shop and into a space designed to showcase a restaurant. We wish them good luck as they spread their gospel of good times and kickass food.

  1. Is Gilead Road Exit 23?

    • Yes, it is @lauren555. It is next to a Presbyterian Hospital, and the parking lot is shared by a Five Guys Burgers & Fries as well as a Firehouse Subs.

I just am hopeful they throw a car on top of this yawn-worthy strip mall to class it up.

  2. Agreed- get that car up on the roof in Huntersville. That strip center is tired.

  3. Restaurants and bars have a tough time making it on Exit 23, don’t know why? They seem to thrive just up the road on Exit 25.

  4. We all went to the Huntersville restaurant, seen the new place, we ( party of 5) had different choices of food and drinks….have to say though….food was ok…slaw, not the Brest, too much batter on the fish…so be it…some like it grilled???

The STAFF….some obviously are not in the right positions…one of them….Lindsay? And a black girl named Anita I think was entirely in very pist off moods, while the other gals were truly showing smiles, and running around like crazy, if I had my restaurant open….which I will….I would NOT want some RUDE servers like them two. If me and my wife come in again, she has said…she will not want to be waited on them 2 gals. Coming from 50 year olds…with lots of restaurant experience….
