Q-City Charlotte BBQ Championship Gets Cookin’ This Weekend
October 18th and 19th, Charlotte plays host to Uptown’s 11th annual beer and BBQ festival: Q-City Charlotte BBQ Championship. Event organizers expect nearly 100,00 people to attend with fans and teams arriving from as far as 700 miles away.
We’ve been visiting this event since its inception and enjoyed watching it evolve and grow over the years. After all, regular RT readers know we love cold beer, good music, and pigs cooked over a pit.
Four blocks along Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte, between Stonewall and Trade Streets (click here for event map) will be taken over by the event. Expect throngs of humanity so plan head and be prepared with the following helpful regarding transportation:
•        Light Rail and CATS bus system – Blue Line to the 3rd Street/Convention Center Station or the Charlotte Transportation Center/Arena station and walk two blocks north to Tryon Street.
•        Charlotte B-Cycle – 24-hour passes cost $8.00 and there are several stations located within walking distance of the Championship.
•        Parking – The EPICENTRE is the official parking and hospitality partner of the Q-City Charlotte BBQ Championship. Drivers may park in the deck located at the EPICENTRE for $5, or find additional paid parking locations throughout Center City.
This is both a competition and festival so come for the music, demonstrations of BBQ prowess, and ‘Cue Culture Marketplace. If you want more information, the Q-City BBQ Championship website is rather thorough.
