Quick Post: The Penguin is Heating Back Up

It was confirmed this week that Alesha Sin Vanata, known for her current Myers Park eatery littleSpoon, has purchased the space where The Penguin currently stands in Plaza Midwood. Charlotte Observer food writer Helen Schwab reports that the new restaurant will most likely compete will nearby Soul Gastrolounge in price range, but offer a—possibly—more ethnic fare.

Look for a modernized look for the now-quiet corner off Central, as the new owner looks to freshen up the style of the Penguin while still honoring the history is represents to so many Charlotte locals. Interviews are already starting for staffing, and she hopes to be open by the summer. Have any tips as to what Plaza Midwood has to look forward to? Leave them below or email remy@restauranttraffic.com.
