Ed's tavern is a legend in its own time and a favorite local hang out. The inside is the perfect combination of worn wood surfaces, exposed brick, random collectibles and beer paraphernalia.
The attire is strictly comfortable and you can't help but relax the instant you step inside. This is a place is as close to home as possible without sitting on your couch. Instead of heading towards your fridge for a cold one, the staff here brings them to you before you even have to ask.
The beer prices are great and the food is equally well positioned. Coors light drafts are $1.50 every day and if you prefer something with a deeper flavor check out their ever changing beer options. They have plenty of options by the bottle and 25 draft choices to choose from.
The menu boasts nothing too exotic or off the beaten path but the food is well executed and delicious bar fare. The fried pickles used to be fried spears but are now the more common slices served with a side of ranch. Another great appetizer favorite is the fried green beans, which you can technically consider a serving of vegetables for your daily diet. The wings are perfectly crispy and you simply can't go wrong with the house favorite -blackened Parmesan. If you are brave of heart or have a gullible friend, try the wing challenge for some added excitement, and if you beat the clock you can have your name added to the wall of flame. This is the go-to place where they literally know your name. Ed's is perfect anytime of the day or night. It may not be fancy, but like your favorite pair of jeans, it just fits.
Ed’s is a great neighborhood hangout. I can walk there and the food is pretty good too.
Colson is right, Ed’s is like Cheer’s where everybody knows your name. My girlfriend and I love the place.
Is there another Ed’s in town? I thought there was one in Plaza Midwood somewhere?
There was one in Elizabeth. It is now Kennedy’s. Great bar, great patio.
Why did Ed’s turn into Keenedy’s? Same owners?
The guy that opened Ed’s could not make it work. The new owner is Kevin Marcuse. He is a real pro. Worked for Bar Management Group for a long time & owns Town Tavern Uptown. They have been doing really well since reopening as Kennedy’s. Sunday he did $15 all you can drink Bloody Marys & free hot dogs & hamburgers.
