Midwood Smokehouse- A whole lotta shakin going on.

August 25, 2011

 BY Dave

This past Tuesday I was hanging with Lucier at Midwood Smokehouse. No I was not watching a bad TV sitcom but having lunch with CBRE's leading retail broker Mike Lucier.

We were celebrating the opening of Vapiano. Mike represented Vapiano and Adam Williams and I represented the Landlord in the lease negotiations.        Ex Bank of America CEO Hugh McColl even stopped by our table and shared a couple of stories with us. OK, enough name dropping but when Mr. McColl speaks you listen and hopefully learn something. First the food which was good as usual.

The Pig Out Combo Platter.

You know how you always remember your first? Well shortly after lunch while we were solving the world's problems the building started moving back and forth. Yes it was my first earthquake. This was based in Virginia and was the strongest earthquake to hit the east coast since 1897. Midwood Smokehouse and earthquake will always be linked together in my mind. Sorry Frank, probably the association you would not want as a restaurateur but now linked forever in my mind. I am sure my kids will get tired of hearing my earthquake story for the 12th time in a few years but they live in my house and listen they will.

Why is Raquel Welch in my post? There are posters in the mens room of movie stars from yesteryear. Farrah Fawcett, Cheryl Ladd and Jacqueline Bisset are all represented. I wonder if images of Burt Reynolds, Sylvester Stallone and Clint Eastwood prowl the ladies room? If anybody can answer that please respond in the comments section.
