OK, in the spirit of full disclosure we represented the Landlord in the Vapiano deal so I do have a dog in the fight (apologies to the Michael Vick haters.) However, in my 5 trips in the first 10 days they have been open, count me as very impressed.
Here I am at the VIP opening party with Adam and his wife Genevieve so Vapiano said hello to me early. The place is beautiful and you feel like you are sitting in New York City instead of South Tryon. The food is the real star here. Nothing on the menu is over $10 day or night. Everything is made in house and is fresh. They cook it right in front of you and ask you what you want in it. Fresh casual is the term they use. Vapiano is after all a European concept so as you know it is different over there, they slow life down to enjoy it. We could all take a lesson.
This ham and mushroom pizza is only $7.95 and my wife (who is not easy to please) said it was the best in town. I have taken many people into Vapiano and have not heard one negative comment with the exception of day 2 when they were having problems with the register where people checked out but those are just growing pains.
The Caprese Salad, simple but elegant. If you have not given Vapiano a try you must put it on your to do list, and soon.
Looks great, Dave.
Can’t wait to try it!
